Laura Umansky, a multi-award-winning home designer, launched Laura U Interior Design in 2006. Laura and her growing team have earned a reputation for exquisite interiors that are bright, vibrant, and contrasting for more than a decade. Her company evolved once again in 2020. The Laura U Design Collective, which now provides residential building design services, is a multidisciplinary practice that takes a “wholistic” approach to house design. Let’s get some modern lighting ideas from its projects.
Their design business is a full-service studio with expertise in architecture, interior design, graphic design, and the Fine Arts. From small-scale remodels to whole-house renovations, their staff will assist customers in meeting their design objectives.

Regarding their work, they provide customized living environments that are a lovely representation of the clients’ priorities. Their collection includes everything from classic to contemporary and everything in between.
In terms of their focus, they provide a full-service firm specializing in residential building design and interiors due to their sole concentration on home design. From the foundation to the furnishings, their collaborative method merges form and function to create a house that is truly tailored to the customers’ preferences.
This Indo-Asian-inspired apartment in Houston represents the proprietors’ passion for travel. Warm tones reminiscent of desert sunsets of sienna, terracotta, and crèmes pervade the home.
With limited space, their objective was to create a visually appealing interior by utilizing multi-purpose furniture that also highlighted the client’s aesthetic. From bespoke closets in a converted den to a stunning sleeper sofa, every choice was deliberate in terms of scale, proportion, and finishes.
They combined fabrics, accessories, and paintings with their customers’ own art collections to create a collected, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
This vibrant apartment in Houston’s renowned River Oaks area serves as a second home for their Woodlands-based clientele. The 2,200 sq. ft. condo features a dynamic palette of brilliant colour and pattern, symbolizing the occupants’ far-flung travels.
They stretched the boundaries of what is generally seen as complementing, drawing inspiration from the customers’ visits to East Asia. There aren’t many grounding neutrals in this space.
The customers desired to be transported to another world as soon as they arrived, but they also desired some consistency in the design. They specified that each hue has a “friend” in the area. This meant that if a hue was used in one area, it had to be utilized in another portion of the house as well.
This organized, understated, stunning interior is home to a young family with three children in Houston’s West University neighbourhood. They began working with the homeowners as their bespoke house was approaching completion.
The interior design was inspired by attractive, brilliant hues, combined metals, and meaningful artefacts that provide a wow factor in every space of the home.
To offer them a bit more space to work from home, they repurposed what would have been the clients’ formal living room and changed it into a practical home office that better suits their lifestyle.
They included a few family relics into the general design, such as the client’s grandmother’s mirrors in the dining room. That type of decoration serves as a focal point in the space as well as a wonderful conversation starter with guests.
