Maison et Objet is starting tomorrow and amidst the showcasing of several luxuries and high-end design brands, the event is also going to award some prolific designers! One of them being Michael Anastassiades – the lighting design genius from London who we bring here for you today.

Michael Anastassiades is a London-based company, which specialises in designing and also manufacturing, high-end lighting and lighting objects. Starting in 2007, this company was established to increase the availability of Anastassiades signature products.

The company uses family-run workshops worldwide to fabricate their objects, selecting also unique manufacturing skills and traditional use of materials. Each product is handcrafted and stamped with the designer’s mark. Michael‘s design philosophy is to produce exceptionally designed products with timeless value.

Anastassiades founded his studio in London back in 1994 and has been on the rise ever since. His work is featured in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, just to name a few.

Michael Anastassiades has become one of the most poetic and prolific lighting designers working today. In his work, the Cypriot designer uses simple shapes and volumes – a sphere, a line, a circle – to create a rich language where uncertainty and imbalance are embraced.

Michael Anastassiades launched his amazing lighting brand in 2007, where he first presented his collection at the Maison et Objet. Now, he is coming back as Designer of the Year.
