Looking for new kind of events and you´re interested to know more about craftsmanship? At 20th to the 21st of June 2018, Porto will be the unique stage for Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit 2018 arranged by the Covet Group for the first time in it´s history.
It´s truly one of the only events in the whole world by bringing together all the creative minds behind design business, to have discuss what are the possible next trends in Modern lighting designs and other furniture designs at the World of Luxury Design. This wonderful unique event will bring you a new perspectives, possible development ideas, and the most innovative practices of the luxury and design industries as the major companies in the growth and elevation of Craftsmanship.
Taking it´s place in a beautiful city renowned its heritage to craftsmanship, Porto, Portugal, where the two-day event will present an famous line-up of key speakers to provide a lively and memorable debate and informed conversation for all those who seek be at front line of the Modern Lighting in Luxury Design field, what comes to inspiring speeches and ideas.
The grand opening event will take a place at Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar, designed by Pritzker Winners, Architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, on the 20th of June with the live act by Master artisans of azulejo, wood and other forms of ancient crafts. Gondomar is more then perfect place to host the First Edition of this Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit, because it’s a city recognized for its love and dedication to craftsmanship, mainly in the jewelry industry.
The first panel of summit is dedicated to The Value of Craftsmanship for the Luxury World will present real case studies that are translating the meaning of exclusivity and authenticity. The day will be closed by Gondomar’s Mayor itself, Marco Martins with a Port of Honor.
During this two-day lasting event, the craftsmanship will be the main discussion topic with a new approaches and dimensions. There will be a reflection of the dynamic and digital world, where craftsmanship serves as a useful tool for design brands and other art forms.
On the last day of summit, on the 21st of June, two panels will be presented: “Design as a Driving force for Local Craftsmanship”, is where you can have chance to take a look into the rise of the Designer-Maker, a journey from all the way from the past towards a new inspiring cultural progress to promote creativity and innovation, while showing respect towards traditions and guarding safely the heritage. The closing last panel of event will be “Luxury Branding: The Behind the Scenes Story” and it will have debate the connection between the heritage techniques and its usage for the most recent marketing campaigns of world´s leading luxury brands, what comes to modern lighting and other products.
As about speakers of last day, the following speakers are: Michaelangelo Foundation, an international non-profit entity that celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship and strengthens its connection to the world of design; Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, a foundation created with the objective of protecting and disseminating the Portuguese Decorative Arts and the handicrafts related to them; Luís Onofre, designer of luxury shoes and accessories and President of APICCAPS; Vista Alegre, the oldest porcelain factory in the Iberian Peninsula; Topázio, a Portuguese company with more than 140 years of history, expert in the creation and production of unique designed hand-carved silver; Boca do Lobo, Portuguese brand of furniture-art design recognized for its unique and innovative design always handcrafted.
Event itself is organized in association with Thinkers & Makers Foundation, whose mission is to celebrate and honor the craftsmanship and every single person who creates soulful pieces with their own hands.
